ABOUT THE BLOGGER

Sam Bone of The Spinnerette Chronicles and PINK DUCK MEDIA.

It has been quite some time since I first started whoring Brody Dalle, The Distillers and now Spinnerette. It all started 10 years ago, I was just 17; angry and looking for an outlet as we all tend to do at that age. I had somehow (I totally don’t remember) landed my hands on a punk rock compilation that had the demo version of The Distiller’s “LA Girl” on it. It was love at first listen, and the rest is fucking punk rock history.

I started talking about and promoting the band in any which way I could think of.. I drew hand-drawn fliers, made CDs and mix tapes to hand out at “like” gigs. I bought $300 of merchandise off of Machete Mfg. who distributed Distiller’s loot at that time, JUST TO GIVE IT OUT FOR FREE. I went to a million shows, met millions of fans, and sort’ve just became the “cool guy with the Distillers tattoo.”

Well since then, the Distillers tattoo became tattooS. I had also ran into and talked with Brody quite a few times. Got hit up by both Hellcat Records and SIRE to do promo+street team shit for the band.

Then, The Distillers ended. Enter Spinnerette and Anthem Records.

Yearning to still be a part of the promo team, I wrote to Anthem, directly, and got a hold of Brody’s manager. I was down, Brody and she were down, and then The Spinnerette Chronicles was born. It was the first real deal Myspace gone dot come gone Official dot com on the internet. Thousands of fans from all over the world.

Then, The Spinnerette Chronicles died, but left a lil nug saying “PDM Coming Soon.” Well this is PDM, aka Pink Duck Media. The first, and original Spinnerette starting point.

Thanks for the follow and the support. For fun, I have attached to this blog, some oldschool reads from the days of The Spinnerette Chronicles.

The Spinnerette Chronicles Presents: The Best of the Best!

As the D-Day deadline of Valentine’s Day 2009 nears, the Spinnerette Chronicles tricks out aspects of all things SPINNERETTE.

Being a leading source of public attention and shit-stirring, The Spinnerette Chronicles has been collecting news, articles, reviews, media, a few gabba-gabba-hey’s!, and a bunch of other nonsense to bring attention to Brody Dalle’s latest musical gem.

For the last month, the Spinnerette Chronicle’s Sam Bone has been sending out love to other fans and webmasters, taking names and numbers, and roughly placing all its “ducks” in a row, in order to make the full connection complete; the full circle that is Brody Dalle’s musical career.

Sam Bone, the wizard behind the attention-getting Spinnerette Chronicles, recently wrote in saying:

“I always knew that I wanted the main focus of this project to be strictly Brody Dalle and SPINNERETTE. There are already oldies-and-goodies out online, who have huge fan bases, websites that have been around, pre-Major label signing, for a long, long time. I always knew the ones that I really enjoyed, as a fan, and I always hoped that I could work together with these talented fans, these talented individuals. There is already so much attention to The Distillers and Brody on the internet, as is… it’d be stupid to try to take attention away from what’s already out there. And, mainly, to design a site that includes Distillers as well as Spinnerette, would take forever to complete, and I don’t want to focus on the past. I know that without Distillers, Brody wouldn’t be where she is now, but it’s definitely about the future. And the future is Spinnerette.”

And now he’s naming names and shedding light on people from within the underground Distillers web cult: Some of the people he has contacted; Claire Langtry (of Beat Your Heart Out), Heather Abrahamson (of Deathhouse, formerly Brody.tk) and Sofie (of the new, clean ValiumKnights.org).

Is it a collaboration? Yes. Are these all very talented people? Yes. Are they all devoted? Fuck yes!

The Spinnerette Chronicles hits the worldwide web on Valentine’s Day at midnight, and the team promises that “it’ll make your pants wet.”

I guess if you don’t have a significant other to make love to on the corporate, candy-consuming holiday, you can find comfort in making love to your computer monitors!

Keep your eyes on www.spinnerettemusic.com and www.spinnerettechronicles.com in the next few weeks, for more about The Spinnerette Chronicles.

SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES Becomes “Official”

Mega Brody Dalle Fan Site SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES Goes ‘Official’

On December 8, 2008 the SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES received official status in direct accordance with Brody Dalle herself.

As of today, the SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES is the only recognized, official fansite for Dalle’s new band, Spinnerette.

Though the SPINNERETTE CHRONICLE’s journey has been relatively short—debuting in May 2007—this announcement serves as the culmination of nearly seven years of dedicated promotion and support for Dalle’s career.

“When I heard that Brody herself gave the OK for my site to be known as the ‘official site’ I was in total shock,” said Sam Bone, creator of the SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES.

The official status is only the beginning in a series of events to launch and brand the SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES as the only official fan site for Dalle and her musical projects.

The SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES is currently in talks with SRO Management of Anthem Records to devise a plan of action to further develop the breadth of an official fansite. Further details will be released as they come in.

For the SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES, learning and understanding what it means to be official is critical.

“The SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES has always been a fan site for the fans, from the fans,” said Bone. “This always has been and will always remain my number one goal.”Tentatively, increasing awareness about Spinnerette remains paramount as well as finding additional avenues to get the fans involved more hands-on.

An official domain for the SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES is set to launch on Valentine’s Day 2009.

More about the SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES
The SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES debuted in May 2007 as an underdeveloped fan project with the motto, “Spinning you to Death”. Initial conversations with Brody Dalle began in 2005 at a Queens of the Stoneage show she was attending in support of her husband—the lead singer for the band. The countless e-mail conversations quickly lead to an Internet relationship that Dalle used to her advantage. By leaking news bits and key pieces of information regarding Dalle’s new lineup and band, the SPINNERETTE CHRONICLES was born.

Misc. Times Interview September 10th, 2007

After the gradual breakdown of the Distillers, at the height of their fame, Brody and the boys went away for a while.  The fan boy and fan girls have been eating up any information the band will let out, which isn’t much.  But a couple months ago we reported about an official break up. Our source, the forums and a mysterious quote about a ‘spider eating the Distillers.’ Since then, the spider has been as identified as Brody Dalle-Homme and Tony Bradley’s new band. Four years since their last album, 2 new members, a baby, and one new surname and the band is now ready to get in the studio under a new moniker, Spinnerette. In compliance with Distiller-fan-tradition, there is bound to be some great fan sites up. We talk with Sam from the first of them and what looks to be a very promising one, the Spinnerette Chronicles.

Hey, so why don’t you tell us what the Spinnerette Chronicles is.

The Spinnerette Chronicles is a fan site that I am doing for Brody’s new band, Spinnerette. I have been doing promotion for Brody (Distillers to now) since about 2002. It all started with word of mouth and then it became flyer artwork. I really do like to believe that I was one of the first people to really whore the Distillers, along with Heather (the infamous brody.tk), and Claire (distillers.clairebear.com). I remember back when Distillers had a slot on the International Coverup as well. We were all members there, weren’t we? There was a guy named Scooby who I also caught the attention of… Back when Coral Fang was released, a proper “Street Team” was garnered up as well. One that didn’t last… but he called me more than once to hear what I had to say about that. I also caught the attention of Machete Mfg.  I received a very odd phone call from someone who worked at the merchandise company, who asked very odd questions like “Why are you buying ALL Distillers merchandise? Why are you buying in bulk? Why are you spending near $400? Where did you get this money?” Later on I started to think it was one of Tim’s “homies” who made that call. After all, it was the Distillers I was spending hard-earned cash on, and not Rancid. Haha.

Why do you think the band has changed the name?

I think Brody pretty much answered that question— With the Distillers, she was a lot younger. Now that she’s matured a lot more, is a mother and has a family, I think the transition just came naturally… plus I guess after time, I’d just get boring to see and hear the same things….

Well, what is up with the new band?

Well like I have said publicly a few times; as much as I sometimes feel like an insider; I am not one! Brody and I don’t talk as much now that she is a) busier with the new record, b) a momma now, and c) on tour with QOTSA. As she has stated, she is on tour with the Queens until sometime in August, when she will resume the record-making process. She’s a one-woman army, taking on enough tasks to surely break the average person!

What kind of features will this site have? Forums? (we all know those Distillers fans love forums)

I am not sure. As funny as this might sound, I am not a pioneer at website making. The two main things I have going for me are 1) image design and graphic art, and 2) talking to Brody. Hopefully the main focus will be “hear-it-first” type news. You may or may not remember that I was talking about Spinnerette long before thedistillers.com was transformed into the Spinnerette site. I also knew she was pregnant before the world did, and I am still amazed that she (Brody) trusted me like that. I am a person of honesty. I did tell her that it was between her and I. I knew about the pregnancy since May 2005. So back to the point, news will be the main focus. I will be having a team of webmasters and webmistresses helping me out… so it will be nothing like what’s out there now, I will tell you that.

So Brody joked around saying that her fans from her Distillers days have finally grown up and are now around 20. How would you describe the average Distillers/Spinnerette fan?

The average fan? Hmm. What I love about fans of Brody’s work (Distillers and anything else) is that they come from all different walks of life— No matter who you are (male, female, gay, straight, confused, black or white) you can easily find a common ground. Even with age— you see high school kids and you see people in their 20’s, 40’s, and even 50’s. I think you could point out the fans that have been there since the beginning. As Brody said… they are all in their 20s by now and older. Some people are just now discovering albums like “Coral Fang.” The fans are really cool, too. I’ve met some really awesome people at Distillers shows.

Any additional comments on your site or the band?

Yes. There are many, many, many fans on Spinnerette’s Official MySpace, and not so many have added TSC. Add me!

The site is set for a Halloween launch and can currently be found at their
 myspace.

Brody Dalle on PUNK, The Spinnerette Chronicles’, Sam, Chimes In!

•Tuesday, February 5, 2008 •

An interesting blog discussion took place on Spinnerette’s official message board regarding what it is to be “punk.”

The conversation included the participation of my good friend, Sam (web owner of the up-and-coming, The Spinnerette Chronicles), Spinnerette’s front woman, Brody Dalle, and a handful of Hot Topic-consuming, so-called “punks.”

Apparently the definition of “punk” was reduced to nothing more than sexual profanities. The best part of this forum discussion is not Dalle’s response to the haters, but her siding with my friend Sam! Though her message is explicit in nature (rightfully and deservingly so, I might add), she definitely stands her ground, and perhaps forces, once and for all, her legion of negative-Nancy’s to finally keep their big, fat mouths shut!

Here’s what she said:

WARNING: The following content has been deemed EXPLICIT! WARNING: The following content has been deemed EXPLICIT!

“I’m still a punk . i like it in the ass too……. does that mean i’m an “OG” punk ? cos i really want to clear this up. If sammy is the real deal so am i .i’m a straight woman gay man woman .

i”m infiltrating . you’re gonna like it , at least i suspect so …….all you pissed-off 18 year olds were 13 when coral fang came out , you’ve probably been through 3 style changes already what’s another one , eh ?

We’re mixing the record right now . We have “the best management cool can buy” .Hold on to your panties/diapers cos your gonna shit . And btw all the real “scummer, garbage eating, dope/meth slamming /snorting, street sleeping PUNKS” don’t sit on there fucking mum’s/dad’s/schools/friends/ fucking computer and bitch and moan like little babies .

also btw ” men are the new women”

brody xxx ”

Take a look at the original source of this post, and take some time to catch up on the heated discussion, as well as read the added comments of Sam himself, by visiting the following sites, respectively:

Sam’s Myspace

It should be noted that Sam has worked directly for Dalle’s label in the past, and continues to do so but in a less-hands-on sort of way.

He’s an avid supporter and self-promoter of her musical endeavors, and is well known in the Distillers and Spinnerette communities.

I cannot imagine what he felt like to have read a public approval from one of his top, living inspirations.
